There are many techniques you can use to encourage more activity and participation on your blog.
A simple google search will find you plenty of articles from respected bloggers on how to go about it, so instead of me retelling what’s already been told, I’m going to tell you about the best, simplest and fastest way to guarantee you get more blog comments!
I first used this method on my last blog post on how to start a forum and it resulted in over 100 comments within the first 24 hours of the post going live.
Some people say there are no shortcuts in life, well, that’s simply not true, at least where blog comments are concerned anyway.
I’ve created a cool little plugin that helps you get lots of blog comments and optionally builds your list at the same time.
How does it work? Offer an incentive for the comment!
With the plug in I developed, you are able to instantly follow up with all your blog commentors by automatically subscribing them to any autoresponder.
So as soon as somebody leaves a comment on your blog, they can get access to some kind of free gift you offer!
It’s easy to use and you can set up different autoresponders for as many blog posts as you wish.
Just simply leave a comment on this blog post and I’ll email you the plug in instantly.

A bribe goes a long way when it comes to getting busy people to participate in your blog. Lot’s of visitors but hardly ever any comments. I think that will change with this plugin.

The difficulty for me is finding a free gift that is of value and not the same regurgitated stuff that has been around the last 10 years… I guess it depends on your subject matter.

Bribes are great…especially if they work
Still haven’t received any response from you about the forum plugin that neither me or anybody else could get installed/working.
I’ll be happy to try this one, use it and even send you glowing praise if you would first please take 2 minutes to address the non-working forum script that I wasted time trying to install to no avail.
Short of addressing that first, I would have to say this approach has failed because you may have may have gained some comments and happy freebie seekers…but you will have lost at least one actual paying customer who has bought more than 1 product from you in the past.
Don’t get me wrong…not offering any support for something free is 100% understandable. But hyping up something, free or otherwise, that’s unusable just to elicit a response is a different story, IMHO.

Awesome information, however if the value of the gift is not perceived as high, they will not comment regardless…it has been my experience that comments are emotion driven, and if the right “chord” is struck, they can’t help but comment…just my 2 cents. Thanks a million optins!

If you haven’t received the email, there is sometimes a slight delay with my autoresponder. Give it 10 minutes or so it should arrive.
The delay is with my autoresponder, not the plugin itself.

For people having problems coming up with something to give away, it could be as simple as the rest of the article. Like if your article was ‘The Top 10 Ways To XYZ’ you could count from 10 to 9 and then say, ‘To find out the #1 very best way to XYZ, simply leave a comment below and you’ll get it instantly in your email’.
There’s a lot of ways you could use it. If you’re talking about a product you could give access to a discount order link to anyone who leaves a comment. Be creative!

O.k. how can having a blog, help someone who does translation and interpretation work.
I can quite easily translate e-books, localize websites like the one the above link is for, or even computer games (see http://www.freeonlinegames.com) – but I´ve yet to figure out the need for a blog, and how to make money of it.
Maybe I´m just not with it? – Sorry.

This sounds like a great idea. Even greater if it can be used with GWA-Autoresponder that I use on my blog. There is a link to their info page underneath my opt-in box on my blog.

what a great Idea! Wish I had thought of it. I am just putting up my FIRST Blog tomorrow and I will be sure to incorporate your idea.
In response to Richard (way back) he shouldn’t worry so much about giving something away that has been around for a while. NEW people are constantly entering the Internet Marketing field and they don’t have their copy of “Think and Grow Rich” for example.
There are sooo many good e-books out there for Free and many you can even Rebrand with your info and give away for future list building etc.
I love your e-mails, Gary…….most are not too long and you use a decent sized font for we babyboomers…:>)
I have learned a lot from you in over 2 years on your mailing list. I just wish I had USED the ideas you’ve been teaching because it turns out almost all the great teachers say pretty much the same thing.
It’s just up to each one of us whom we decide to follow.

On my site, I use Comment Relish, so I hope your plugin won’t conflict with it; if it doesn’t, I’ll have to find a way to use them both!

Hi Gary, thanks again for developing this plugin… I’m not sure why but it has stopped working for me. I’ve tested the email address it is supposed to send to and it works fine. However, the plugin itself does not seem to be functioning properly anymore. I’m using WordPress 2.9 and have recently install WP 2.9 RC1 in an effort to correct the issue. I’ve disabled all my other plugins as well and still can not get it to work. Any ideas as to what would cause this?

Thanks so much for sending me the plugin. Unfortunatly i wasnt able to activate the plugin because for some reason it didnt have a valid header. Ive noticed that since i’ve downloaded the latest version of wordpress more and more of the plugins i try installing give me this same error message. Any help on what to do to fix this problem will be highly appreciated. Thanks so much for the quick response on sending the plugin over my way. Great idea for blog. The same strategy works for all Error pages, under construction pages, and even normal web sites. The biggie is to give away something which is of great value, compelling to sign up.
I give away viral automation tools, such as auto tweet tool, auto blogging tool, and other amazing stuff which is as valuable as your plugin.
I also like the way you monetize your own blog. Just the right amount and not overbearing. All great affiliate links too.
